How to make simple scone glaze

Start by measuring out powdered sugar with measuring cup and place in a small bowl. If your sugar is lumpy, sift through a small strainer.

Add vanilla extract and half and half.

Slowly pour in prosecco.

With a small whisk, stir until glaze is smooth and slowly drips from bottom of whisk.

If glaze is too thick, add a bit more half and half until desired consistency.

Drizzle over scones or other baked goods.

Set on a wire rack to set. Place a piece of wax paper or parchment paper under the rack to catch any drips.

Vanilla Scone Glaze with Prosecco

Grab a bottle of prosecco at the store or have it delivered right to your door!

Prosecco really adds a wonderful sweet yet tart flavor to scones, especially fresh fruit scones. Which makes sense if you are a mimosa fan!

Glaze or Frosting

So, what is the difference between glaze and frosting?

Glaze is very thin frosting that you can drizzle over baked goods rather than a thick spread like frosting. I like glaze because it doesn't mask or take over the flavor of what is underneath. A glaze should enhance the flavor of whatever it is on top of!
